 Want to try out Ronaldinho’s latest flick, Zidane’s newest shimmy or Mansaram’s stunning volleys in The Showgrounds? Then why not enter a team in the inaugural Packie McGowan memorial 7-a-side tournament running from the 26 June to 9 July in the Showgrounds All-Weather pitch.
Dedicated to the memory of the late Packie McGowan, this new competition is set to get friends, workplaces, and communities into gear in an attempt to win the Packie McGowan Cup for the first time.
The games will take place on midweek evenings for two weeks starting at the end of June and culminating with the final at The Showgrounds on Sunday, July 9. The final will take place on the same day as the World Cup final with a 12 noon kick-off
.
The emphasis on the competition is fun so teams will not be allowed play any more than five players from the Sligo-Leitrim & District Junior Soccer League and no professional players will be taking part.
