The former Leeds United and Stockport County left winger (24) put pen to paper at the Showgrounds on Sunday.

Singh was at Elland Road from the age of twelve and broke through to earn a professional contract at seventeen. He featured on the bench for Leeds in the Premiership and was highly rated, playing under George Graham, David O'Leary and Terry Venables.

He was, however, released by present Leeds boss, Kevin Blackwell, and having spent some time on loan at Bury and Bristol Rovers, he joined Stockport County.

"I am delighted to have secured his services. His background is excellent and he is pacy, very direct and is different to any other player we have at the club. He is the type of player I have been looking for for a while now," commented Rovers manager, Sean Connor.

Connor has also completed the signing of seventeen years old Republic of Ireland schoolboy international, Seamus Coleman from Killybegs.

Right back Coleman impressed when he featured for St. Catherine's in Rovers first pre-season friendly in Donegal.

"This lad has huge potential and he has been signed for two years. I think this shows that we are planning for the future at this club and Seamus has a bright future ahead of him," added Connor.

The Rovers boss has also revealed that he is talking to three further possible signings.

"I would love to get at least two out of the three, but at this stage it is down to finance and we will just have to wait to see how things develop," he commented.

Looking ahead to the tussle with the basement boys, Connor acknowledges that the trip to Suirside could present its own particular difficulties.

Rovers will be without striker, Paul McTiernan, who picked up an ankle injury in the victory over Dublin City, and full-back, Keith Foy, who is still recovering from a knee injury.

"It is one of those situations whereby it will be as tough as we make it ourselves. We have to prepare properly and while it is a match I expect us to win, Waterford won't be any pushovers.

"They haven't won a game all season and on the law of averages that sequence has to end sometime. Our job is to ensure it does not happen this weekend," said the manager.

"Waterford may be bottom, but they certainly won't sit back and make it easy for us. Nevertheless, we will be going there wanting to take all three points to keep the pressure on the teams immediately above us," he added.

Meanwhile, Connor described Friday night's two-nil win over Dublin City at the Showgrounds as a "professional job, well done."

"We needed to get back with a win. It was always going to be a tough game as they are a strong side. As a manager I was pleased in that we went out in the first-half and played exactly as we had planned.

"We got two goals, came in at half-time and moved to conserve our energy a little, be economical with our running and we used the ball very well.

"We played percentage football and there was no need to send our full backs flying forward. We did what we had to do after the break and that was good enough for me," he said.
