Report courtesy, www.oceanfm.ie Shelbourne set the tone for the game as early as the 7th minute when the took the lead as Jason Byrne knocked the ball forward and it came to Stuart Byrne who played it out left to Ollie Cahill and he cut inside the challenge of Gavin Peers and curled the ball inside the post. Rovers could have drawn level in the 16th minute when Keith Foy played the ball into the box from the left and it was headed down by Adam Hughes to Darren Mansaram but his shot on the turn went over. Cahill went close to getting a second for the home side two minutes later as he was set up by Bobby Ryan and was unlucky to see his weighted lob come back off the crossbar. Matthew Judge should have done better in the 28th minute when he dispossessed Colin Hawkins but opted to shoot when he should have played in Mansaram and his shot was saved by Shelbourne keeper Dean Delaney. Jason Byrne then twice went close for Shelbourne inside the last fifteen minutes of the half. Five minutes into the second half and Rovers were reduced to ten as Byrne bore down on goal but just as he was about to shoot he was clipped from behind by Liam Burns who received a straight red card. To add further salt to Rovers wound Byrne blasted home the resulting free kick. Rovers made their first change in the 54th minute as Brian Cash a new signing from Derry City made his debut as he replaced Matthew Judge. A minute later though and Shelbourne made it three as Dave Rogers broke down the left and played a low ball into the box where no-one picked up Byrne who had time to turn and shoot low inside the post. Joseph Ndo who tormented Rovers all night was nearly rewarded for his efforts in the 63rd minute as he cut in from the left ghosting past Hughes and Peers before seeing his near post drive kept put by a good save from Richard Brush. Byrne nearly turned provider in the 67th minute as he floated the ball into the box where it was chested down by Ryan who shot across goal and wide.
