Sligo Rovers have been drawn against Leinster Senior League side, Killester United in the Quarter Finals of the Carlsberg FAI Cup.
Speaking to www.sligorovers.com, manager Sean Connor was delighted with the draw.
“It’s the best draw we could have got and we now have a great opportunity to get to the semi finals.
“I haven’t seen Killester, but I’ll know enough about them by the time we play them. They’re playing at weekend and I’ll have them watched a couple of times before the game.
“I’m very happy for the supporters. It’s a home draw and it gives them another reason to be enthusiastic and build up an energy around the place. The support we’ve been getting in recent weeks has been fantastic and I’m looking for that to continue in the weeks ahead, in particular the games against Bohs on Saturday and Cork on Tuesday next.
“The players know that we’re only a couple of games away from European football, but they won’t take anything for granted in the build-up. My job is to keep them focussed and keep them winning. All talk of cup banned. The focus is on Bohemians and Cork. These are the important games and any player who doesn’t keep up the tempo, won’t be playing in the big games,” he concluded.
The game will be played the weekend of 1 October.
