Sligo Rovers have been dealt a severe blow ahead of Saturday night's game against St Patirck's Athletic as the club have announced that Brian Cash will be out of action for a year. Cash, who arrived from Derry in the July transfer window had settled well into the first team and in recent games had made the transformation from winger to striker, partnering Darren Mansaram up front. Speaking to sligorovers.com, Rovers manager, Sean Connor said, “I’m really disappointed. Brian has settled in quickly and was beginning to show his potential. It’s a real blow to the lad. “He turned very badly on his knee on Tuesday night last, and was operated on the next day. He’ll have another operation in six week. It’ll be a long road to recovery, but we’ll be doing everything in our power to get him back to his best as soon as possible.” We wish Brian all the very best during his recovery. With Cash out injured and Keith Foy and Gavin Peers suspended for Saturday night’s game against St Patrick’s Athletic, Sean Connor will have a few selection headaches for the crucial match. Kick off on Saturday night in The Showgrounds is 7.45pm. |
