Playing in December PDF Print E-mail

So we failed to beat Killester. Hardly any surprise in that. We are unpredictable. Be positive. At least we didn’t lose. Yes, we should have won, but we didn’t. Deal with it and get on with it.

We played well, just not well enough. Killester were motivated because they were facing a top team – that’s a fact. We are now a top team. Look at the way Killester celebrated at the final whistle. And they tried to play football throughout the 90 minutes. There was none of the  time-wasting tactics which we’ve witnessed from some other senior clubs at The Showgrounds this season.

We should win the replay. Hopefully the supporters will flock to Tolka in big numbers, it will be important, it will make a statement again.

The achievement by Killester affords all the junior clubs in Dublin an opportunity to come out and support ‘their’ team. Potentially, Tolka could be full, packed to its near 10,000 capacity.

That is of course if the clubs from the AUL, the Amateur League, the prestigious Leinster Senior League and the other smaller leagues show some sort of solidarity.
Chances are they won’t, so it will be up to the Sligo Rovers supporters to populate Tolka Park on what should be a memorable night for everyone and us especially.

Within touching distance of the last four. And with a free weekend due to the demise of Dublin City – who were scheduled to play Killester in the pervious round. Some form of irony there that we are not idle now because Killester are a capable team.
Thanks Killester for that as we would have had to wait two weeks for some more action without you..

This will keep us nicely tuned. The supporters are getting the bug again judging by they way they turned up last weekend. Keep the momentum going. Lets aim to be still playing in December – it would be a great early Christmas present.
