Rovers appeal for help as supporters vent anger PDF Print E-mail

Active ImageSligo Rovers management committee will be meeting in the coming days to consider the feedback from a meeting of shareholders and season ticket holders held on Tuesday evening (9 Jan) in the Radisson Hotel Sligo.

Although the committee were highly praised for the fruits of their efforts in recent seasons, the principal area of contention for the large attendance was the move to a full-time set-up that has meant that a number of local part-time players will be unable to don the Bit O’Red jersey in 2007.

It was a repeated theme of concern in the contributions of the large gathering of supporters and one that Chairman, Michael Toolan agreed he would take back to the Management Committee.

In outlining the continued success both on and off the pitch, the Chairman announced that a new Clubs Promotions Officer would be in place in the coming months thanks to the generous provision of funding from the FAI.

Treasurer Fergal Keaveny assured those present that the full-time set-up would continue to operate within the parameters of meeting the club’s commitments and maintaining Sligo Rovers on a sound financial footing.  He also made an appeal for people to get involved with the club in any capacity either by way of providing assistance in fund-raising or in giving advice or expertise in aspects of running the club.

The meeting closed with providing those present with the opportunity to select the new club jersey for 2007.
