Sligo Rovers manager, Rob McDonald has been voted onto the new eircom League Manager’s Committee at its inaugural meeting in San Marino.

Invited by the FAI to Ireland's recent clash in San Marino, the league managers had a chance to formalise a structure that will give them a unified voice in dealings with the Association.

Speaking to sligorovers.com, McDonald found the whole exercise very worthwhile.

“It was a good opportunity to meet up with the other managers and it was a great personal compliment to be voted onto the committee. The FAI, Chief Executive, John Delaney gave a very good presentation on his vision for the league and our group gives us an opportunity to ensure that managers are being supported by the FAI in a variety of ways. It also provides a platform in which our ideas on the future direction of the game in Ireland can be heard,” he commented.

Pre-season
“So far pre-season has gone well. We’d a good run-out last Saturday in Swinford. We’ve a very talented set of lads, but I want to beef them up with more experienced players and I’m extremely close to announcing more new additions in the coming days,” he concluded.
