Although Sean Kelly, the Crossmalina born Mayo man is only 19, he is already playing for Sligo Rovers for an incredible five years, three of which has been with the first team. He speaks to Club Promotions Officer, Sinead Fraher about his progress to date.
Sean is ferociously proud of his Mayo roots but he is more than delighted to be playing in his neighbouring county. He has played on numerous GAA teams before, but soccer has always been his first love. Sean was used to living in Sligo before he landed his full-time position with Rovers as he was attending the Sligo I.T, where he was studying for a Degree in Health Science. Although it was a big decision to make the change of career direction, he hasn’t looked back since. Despite Rovers indifferent start, Sean remains excited about the prospects for the remainder of the season with the Bit O’Red. Although being so young, this does not take away for the vast playing experience this player has built up since he started playing and he really is one to be watched for the future. |
