Active ImageFahrudin Kudozovic, the Bosnian-born player has been a revelation for the Bit O'Red this season. Club Promotions Officer, Sinead Fraher speaks to him about the journey that brought him to the Showgrounds.
The player affectionately known as Faz to the Sligo Rovers supporters has really come in to his own this season. Signed in 2005 when Rovers were languishing in the First Division, he was employed primarily as a wide midfielder but many believe it’s only this season, since Paul Cook switched Kudozovic to a striking role along side Matt Judge, that he has really flourished.

Fahrudin (the name he prefers) was born in Bosnia and left the country when he was only eight years of age to avoid the ravages of war in his country. His family and himself moveActive Imaged to the UK where he began his football career. At age nine he started to play for Leister City and he stayed there for two years until he transferred to Derby County at the age 12.

His next move was to Notts County and after a few years plying his trade across the water, he was offered the opportunity to come to Sligo Rovers. This is his third season with the club and he is really enjoying his time wearing the “bit of red” jersey. “Sligo is a lovely place to live in” he said during our interview. “The beaches are fantastic”.

Having won the First Division title with Rovers, he’s hungry for more success and believes that the side is capable of beating anyone in the country on their day. And with Faz / Fahrudin leading the way, it’s surely only a matter of time before Rovers lift some more silverware.
