Midfielder Conor O’ Grady spoke after the 2-1 victory against Waterford in the RSC last Friday

With Rovers only picking up one point in the last two games O’ Grady talked of the importance of picking up the three points in the tricky fixture

“It is very satisfying. It’s a hard place to come and get a result but we fought well in the second half. It probably wasn’t the best performance but at the end of the day our goal coming down here was just three points and that’s what we got. We are delighted with it.”

Fahrudin Kudozovic was the star of the show for Rovers once again and it was his two goals that gave Rovers victory. The Sligo man spoke of his delight for the player, especially after the hard time the Bosnian was given from a section of the Rovers fans.

”He has been a different player in fairness to him. He came in for a lot of criticism from the fans and technically we always knew he was one of not if the best player at the club He is a great pro and a great lad too so I am delighted for him. “

Rovers showed great character to come from a goal down and O Grady was pleased to see the team show their desire the pick up the three point. He admitted the team hasn’t been up to the high standard they set in the month of June for the last run of games.

”We have gone a goal down in a few games and we have turned it around on two or three occasions. We got back into it probably against the run of play but I think 2nd half overall we just about knicked it.
To be honest we haven’t played well at all in the last four or five weeks. The important thing is coming here and getting a result. Against Galway we didn’t play well but we have should have seen it out and got the three points so we were very disappointed. We had a goal coming down here; win at all costs. Thankfully we got the result. We have got to be looking at getting up the table. There is nothing in it. A run of three or four wins as we have previously and you are up the league.”

Rovers once again make the trip to the RSC for an FAI cup match in August. The midfielder feels this result will have no bearing on the cup game but right now he is focused on the league and in particular the crucial game against Shamrock Rovers

"It wont make one bit of difference. That will be a totally different game. It is a one off game. I suppose it is like a Championship game in Gaelic. There could be players injured or suspended so it is going to be a totally different game. We have our minds on next weeks game against Shams so that is our focus for the moment "
