At half time in this Premier Division clash between Sligo Rovers and St. Patrick's Athletic in the Showgrounds the game seemed as good as over with the visitors leading 3-0. Rovers though re-organised at the break producing a much better display in the second half but Pat's held on to win 3-2.

Rovers started with the same eleven that lost against Drogheda and found themselves behind in the 10th minute. Keith Fahey broke from midfield before flicking the ball up to Gary O'Neill who was tackled by Danny Ventre but the ball rolled across to Mark Quigley. He had plenty of time to pick his spot and he curled the ball inside the post from just outside the box. Pat's doubled their lead in the 20th minute when Dave Rogers played forward a long ball which was headed on by Darragh Maguire to O'Neill who got behind the Rovers defence and lofted the ball over Richard Brush.

Fahrudin Kudozovic had a couple of chances to pull a goal back for Rovers but it was Pat's who found the net again in the 39th minute. Fahey whipped in a corner from the left and Anthony Murphy stooped low to head home from inside the six yard box. Rovers made a double change in the 58th minute with Adam Hughes and Brian Cash replacing Matthew Gordon and Rafael Cretaro. They got themselves back into the game with a goal in the 74th minute. Keith Foy played the ball in from the left to Matthew Judge who did well to hold off two defenders before hammering the ball in off the underside of the crossbar.

Pat's should have added a fourth in the 81st minute as O'Neill set-up Ryan Guy who blasted wide with the goal at his mercy. Rovers then ensured a dramatic finish as they scored their second in the 84th minute. Brush's kick-out was headed on by Gavin Peers to Kudozovic who beat one man before unleashing an un-stoppable left foot shot. Pat's were then reduced to ten in the 88th minute as Murphy was sent off for a second bookable offence. Try as they might Rovers couldn't get that third goal and Pat's held on for the win.
