Fans of Sligo Rovers will have the opportunity to mix and mingle with past and present Team Players at a unique function to be held at the SAS Radisson Hotel on Monday, November 12th 2007.
Paul Cook and the 2007 Squad will attend for an ‘end-of-season’ Party especially organized to honour the League Winning Team of 1977. Special Guests on the night will be the 1977 winning squad including their Manager, Billy Sinclair. In 1977, Sinclair, a canny Scot, assembled a terrific team and guided Rovers to a League win, in style. The team included the likes of Paul McGee, Mick Leonard, Alan Patterson, Tony Fagan and Gary Hulmes. Willie McStay, who led Rovers to the treble in 1994 is expected to attend as is Paul Fielding, who managed the Club when they won their first ever FAI Cup in 1983. On that fateful day in Dalymont Park, Tony Stenson and Harry McLoughlin grabbed the goals for Sligo Rovers on a never to be forgotten day of football for the local fans. This Anniversary event at the Radisson promises to be a night of fun and nostalgia. An ardent Rovers fan, Tommy Gorman of RTE will act as MC for the occasion. An Exhibition of Rovers memorabilia, collected by local Supporter Anthony Kilfeather, will also be on public display on the night. The evening gets underway at 7.30 p.m. with a Wine Reception, hosted by Union Foods, and a buffet meal to follow. Throughout the evening, Tommy Gorman will chat with many, if not all, of the footballing talent present on the night and presentations will be made to the 1977 League Winning Team. A 70’s Disco with Noel Burke will round off the evening so don’t forget to wear your dancing shoes and those flares! Tickets for the event cost 50 Euro and are available from Seamus Colleary, Colleary’s Menswear, Grattan St. Sligo. |
