Rommy Boco marked his first start with an exquisite performance and the winning goal against Finn Harps last Friday. He gave his first interview as a Rovers player after the game.

Boco has come with a reputation as a quality player and it is clear he is keen to impress. His performance last Friday excited the Showgrounds faithful.

"It was my first game at home so I had to prove my stature here [The
Showgrounds]. We have a good squad now and there is a good atmosphere amongst us.
There are some quality players in the team and other players did well when they came on - if we can play like this we will do well."

The Benin international was making only his second appearance in a Rovers shirt. He is the club's most recent signing and another to have come from Accrington Stanley.

"I know the manager [Paul Cook] for a long time and he has worked hard to put a good team together and he wants us to play good football.  This was a preparation game so you try everything!"

Boco revealed he has played much of his career as a midfielder but also likes to play behind the strikers. He is aware of the difficult start his new side faces in the opening month of the season.

"We have three hard games at the beginning [of the Premier Division] so if we can get a good start it will be good for everyone."
