Following defeat by Bohemians on Friday night Paul Cook spoke to SligoRovers.com to give his reaction to the game.

His overall feeling on the game -

'Disappointed. We had some very harsh words at half time. We showed Bohs too much respect in the first half, we were so off the pace of the game. It was all what we are not really about as a team. We suggested this to the lads at half time and I thought second half we were terrific. On a difficult night to play football we showed a lot of passion and a lot of desire.'

The performance of the referee and the team -

'I try my hardest not to get involved with officials but the disallowed goal and with the greatest will in the world I do not know what they[officials]. [The response I got from why the referee was] not a very good one. He said it was for a push. I think he had blown for a push before Butler has put the ball in. We've got ourselves back in the game- we are really pleased with that. You think from there "could we go on and win it"- you've got them on the back foot. You think you have got the lead and a minute later you are beaten 2-1. But we've kept going, we've hit the post. Our fans want a team that show passion and desire and at the minute we do. But we certainly show some naivety at times and that is one of the big things we have to learn against the so called bigger teams.....I'm not particularly convinced they are. . We've got no complaint about the result. I say to the lads all the time when you have a go then it is not a problem. Second half we did, first half we never. When we play these big teams some of the lads are still a bit in awe of them. We've got to realize, that in my opinion and I may be wrong, we are as good as them.'

The decision to take off Conor O'Grady

'It was just a decision in the game that we needed more creativity. At the end of the day Conor and Danny[ Ventre] are great at what they do. You could take either of them off, they had both been booked. It is not an issue, there is nothing there for people to say "oh you have take conor off". It was one of these things. We wanted to keep Boco on the pitch because we thought the lad was doing well.we thought about going 4-3-3 but we didn't want to be too clever for our own good because we have never played 4-3-3 before.'

What is next for the team? How he thought the fans felt about the performance -

'We've got another game Monday that we have to go and win. You see the fans at the end of the game standing up and clapping us off. I think you always have to earn the respect of the fans- the fans are the first people who will let you know when they are not happy and I think they have gone home tonight thinking "how did we not get something from that game."'

Having a competitive squad -

'We've got good fitness levels. We have got a squad now where you can put players and they are fit and they are hungry lads. We are just naive. First half we are not right. We make wrong decisions on everything. We keep hitting balls down the throat of Burns and Oman and making them look like they are good players. These little points affect the game. Anto Murphy was off the pace first half, second half I thought he started terrifically.'

The front two -

'I though Boco and Kuduzovic were very good tonight. Even in the first half when we were not at our best they were two that were shining. On a difficult night to play football they continuously tried to get it down.'

How the substitutes impacted the game -

'We've got Judge, Cash and Doherty- Cashy had a wee bit of a chance when he got in. We certainly had numerous opportunities to get something out of the game.'
