Match preview: Bit O'Red hope to trip up league leaders PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 13 May 2008
Active ImageThe Bit O'Red's impressive home form continued on Saturday night against a Bray side that failed to live up to their reputation. Paul Cook's side will be hoping for more of the same as they face pace-setters St Patrick's Athletic in the first game of the second round of the league on Friday night in The Showgrounds. The manager speaks to www.sligorovers.com in advance of this vital game.

Manager's View
Active Image "I would imagine we will get our biggest crowd of the season tomorrow night as we welcome the League leaders for what should be a very entertaining game of football.

"Last week’s home win against Bray Wanderers took us to 4th place in the table after the first series of games which is a great reward for the players for all the hard work that they have put in week to week.

"Now the hard work really begins by trying to consolidate and even improve our League position by the end of the season."
Fans view
This is what it's all about - Rovers challenging for Europe,Active Image playing against the team that have set the pace from the off, in what hopefully will be a packed Showgrounds.

The visitors haven't had a good week of it off the field with suggestions of unease in the camp after the departure of Brian Kerr but they will want to bounce back immediately.

On the other hand, Paul Cook's side have not had a great record against Pat's and will be looking to redress the balance.

But both sides like to get forward and recent games have had more than a fair share of goals. Hopefully a few goals with Rovers to cause an upset in the eyes of the rest of the league.

Team news
Apart from the suspension of Chris Butler, Paul Cook will have a fully fit squad to chose from as Romould Boco returns from injury having missed the 3-0 victory over Bray Wanderers. The manager will be a spectator himself on the night as he serves the second of a four match touch-line ban.
