Sligo Rovers lost 3-0 Bohemians on Friday night as clinical finishing and a lack of substance up front put paid to the Bit O’Red’s chances of taking anything from Dalymount Park.

A huge traffic jam delayed the arrival of the team and supporters to Dalymount Park and with no chance of changing the kick off time Rovers were up against it from before the first whistle.

Neal Fenn opened the scoring on 15 minutes when he combined with the impressive Killian Brennan to shoot low past Pat Jennings from outside of the area.

Rovers attacked for the remainder of the half but never threatened the Bohs’ goal.

The second half saw Paul Cook’s side find an extra dimension and they went forward with  more momentum. But they never created a clear cut chance and the similarity with last year’s 3-0 defeat in Dalymount Park was ominous.

It was to be the case as Killian Brennan scored twice in the final ten minutes. His first was a penalty, harshly awarded against Jamie McKenzie. He added a second two minutes later with the ball richcheting around the penalty area before the former Derry City player found the net, it may go down as a Gavin Peers own goal.

The Rovers supporters, most of whom were over 30 minutes late for the game due to the traffic congestion, sang the team of the pitch with the cup game against Shamrock Rovers in Tolka Park next week firmly in mind. Paul Cook will return from his four game ban and the fans must lift themselves after a throughly disappointing night.
