Active ImageFollowing the summer break the business of eircom league football returns on Saturday next with another crucial game this time against UCD at The Showgrounds.

With the transfer window looming, Rovers are hoping to replicate the kind of crowds that witnessed the Rovers versus Liverpool Legends game on Saturday.

The game itself ended two nil in favour of Liverpool with goals by john Durnin and Paul Walsh. Preceded by a moving tribute to the late Johnny Chadda including a minutes applause, the match played out in brilliant sunshine in front of a lively and enthusiastic mix of Rovers and Liverpool fans.

The 'after-match' in the Southern Hotel went on to the wee hours and proved hugely enjoyable. Hearty congratulaitons are due to the organising committee of Keith O'Dwyer, Dermot Brannigan, Paul Cook (who played for Liverpool - his hometown club - in the game), and Michael McTiernan for all the hard work in making this event a huge success.
