The Bit O'Red Trust have launched a unique fundraising campaign that hopes to raise €100,000 each year for Sligo Rovers.
courtesy www.thebitored.com 28.5 cent today, it wouldn’t get you…………………. 26% of a Litre of petrol 6.5% of a pint of lager 0.4% of a Sligo Rovers replica jersey 1.5 % of an entry fee to Sligo Rovers home game 0.1% of a Sligo Rovers season ticket …..but will go a long way towards securing the future of Sligo Rovers F.C. For just 28.5 cent a day you can become part of one of the League of Irelands biggest and most unique club sponsorships, and in doing so go a long way to securing the future of The Bit O’Red. The Bit O Red Supporters Trust is looking to recruit 1,000 Rovers fans to donate €2 per week (direct debit) to help sustain the long term future of Sligo Rovers FC. Along with 1000 fans we would hope to recruit 100 businesses for a minimum of €5 per week. No one wants to see a repeat of the crisis the club faced this season, and in order to avoid this we, the supporters, can play our part in ensuring this never happens again. However we need a long term strategy that is affordable and accessible to every fan, so everyone has the opportunity to play their part in sustaining their clubs future. As present day Rovers fans, it is our duty to ensure our club is maintained for future generations and there is no better way to do this than supporting a venture like this. The local and business community have supported Sligo Rovers generously down through the years and as a gesture to acknowledge this support we would like to introduce a charity aspect to this venture, with a percentage of the funds raised being set aside to help worthy causes in the local community. So how does it work? • 1000 supporters donate €2 per week direct debit. • All funds raised through this venture will be kept in a separate bank account to the main Trust account. • This account will be audited annually by independent auditors to ensure there is no misappropriation of funds • All cheques from this fund will require 2 signatures (There will be 4 co signatures) • Quarterly statements will be posted on the trust website for all contributors to see how the money is being used. • A meeting will take place between Trust members and supporters clubs for suggestions on how the funds raised through this venture would best benefit the club. • These suggestions would then be presented members for the club management committee. • (In the event that the Club may have other suggestions on how best the funds may be used these suggestions MUST be brought back to members for discussion). • All donations from this venture, to the club, will be pre defined (from previous consultations) and where possible payments will be made directly to the suppliers of goods or services, through this fund. In the coming weeks The Bit O Red supporters trust will release more details about how supporters can contribute to this venture and play your part in securing the long term future of Sligo Rovers F.C in our community.
