SSE Airtricity League
Sligo Rovers were beaten 3-0 by Dundalk in the SSE Airtricity Premier Division on Friday night.
Goals from Daryl Horgan, Kurtis Byrne and Patrick Hoban were enough for Dundalk to take the points, with the performance of Gary Rogers the only .
It keeps Dundalk two points clear at the top of the table and moves them 11 points ahead of the Bit o 'Red.
The only surprise at half-time was that Dundalk only had a solitary goal to show for their total control of the opening 45 minutes.
That strike arrived midway through the half from ex-Sligo Rovers man Horgan whose vicious low drive beat Gary Rogers at his right-hand post.
The Sligo goalkeeper played his part in keeping the deficit to just one, denying Horgan, Sean Gannon and Richie Towell in the first half.
The second half was just three minutes old when the hosts made it 2-0. Darren Meenan picked out Byrne in the box and he curled a cracking left footed drive past Rogers.
Thereafter, Rogers denied Byrne and Hoban before the latter tapped home from close range after a Byrne shot had rattled the woodwork.
Darren Meenan hit the woodwork in the final stages and Rovers finished the game without calling Dundalk goalkeeper Peter Cherrie into action.
