Sligo Rovers under-19s recorded an impressive 2-0 win over St. Pat's at the Showgrounds today.

It made it back-to-back wins for the Bit o'Red having beaten Salthill Devon in the Enda McGuill Cup last weekend. It returned Rovers to winning ways having lost the last two league fixtures before that.

Goals came in each half from captain Ross Taheny and Gary Boylan to defeat a previously unbeaten Pat's side.

Ciaran Kelly made two changes from last week's team with Gary Boylan and Gary Armstrong replacing Regan Donelon and Keelan Kennoy.

The Bit o'Red got off to a good start and took the lead on 16 minutes. A corner was met by Ross Taheny on the far side, he headed back across goal and powerfully into the net.

The second goal came in the 70th minute from Gary Boylan who made his first appearance for the under-19 side having been regularly playing with the first team towards the end of the season.

Keeper Adam Chambers was called upon to make a couple of good saves late in the game but there was no way past him for the Saints.

Rovers remain in seventh place in the Elite Northern Division ahead of a trip to play Derry City next weekend.
