Sligo Rovers were knocked out of the Irish Daily Mail FAI Cup on Friday evening following a 4-0 defeat to league leaders Dundalk at Oriel Park.
An evenly fought first half saw the Bit O'Red almost take the lead in injury time but John Russell was unfortunate to see his downward header ghost past Gary Rogers' near post.
The Lilywhites grabbed the lead on 55 minutes as Daryl Horgan swept the ball past Richard Brush. Stephen Kenny's side doubled their advantage eight minutes later through Ciaran Kilduff while Ronan Finn and Sean Maguire added to the score sheet on 75 and 88 respectively.
