Sligo Rovers under-19s advanced to the Enda McGuill Cup quarter-finals with a 3-0 away win at Derry City.

It’s the second week in a row The Bit o’Red have beaten the north-west rivals on the road after winning 6-2 last week.

Shay Doherty scored the first with an early header from Jason Hunt’s corner.

On 34 minutes Mikey Place scored by hammering in aright-sided cross by Brian Morley.

The third goal was scored early in the second half as Place went in one-on-one with the keeper and clipped it over him.

That is now seven in the week for Place who scored four last week in the league win against Derry and another in the first team friendly victory over Galway United.

Team: Burke, Frempong, Doherty, Taheny, Borotto, Morley, Doyle, Birrane, Hannon, Hunt, Place.

Next for the under-19s is the re-arranged away game against Longford Town which is Tuesday evening.
