Rovers earned a 2-1 win over Galway United in a friendly in preparation for next week’s game against St. Pat’s at The Showgrounds.
Phil Roberts and Mikey Palce got the goals in a game played in Ballyglass Friday afternoon.
It was Galway United who took the lead with winger Gary Shanahan scoring,as he had done in the recent Eamon Deacy Park league meeting, with almost half an hour gone.
12 minutes later a free-kick was given to The Bit o’Red outside Galway’s box and Phil Roberts stepped up to shoot the ball in and level the game at half-time.
With under 15 minutes to go the game’s winner came from Mikey Place, one of seven subs introduced.
He swooped low with a diving header to give Rovers a lead kept to the end for the win.
Rovers now look to the SSE Airtricity League again on Saturday for the visit of St. Patrick’s Athletic for a 7:45pm kick-off.
Rovers: Schlingermann, Adebayo-Rowling, Peers, Trialist, Donelon, Keohane, Roddan ©, Trialist, Sadlier, Roberts, Cretaro.
