New Sligo Rovers signing Pascal Millien has said he is excited about the prospect of lining out in The Showgrounds in the coming year.
The Haiti international signed for the Bit o’ Red a short time ago, pending international clearance, to become the fourth player to commit to the Bit o’ Red today.
Shortly after signing for Sligo Rovers, Millien said: “It’s a blessing. It is just great. Its great to be blessed and sign for Sligo Rovers.
“This has been a long journey for me but it has been a special journey and I am just so happy now. I don’t know how to express myself at this moment. All the hard work paid off. It has been a long journey. I just want to prove to the people what I can do.”
Having arrived in Sligo two weeks ago on trial, Millien has found life with the club enjoyable and is looking forward to the year ahead.
“Sligo is a different place from where I come from. It is a nice quiet place and things are getting better when I get to know people and they show me around. I like it here and I’m happy to get the chance to live here and do my best for Sligo Rovers.
“I like the football here, I like the players that I play with. They play the game I love to play - they pass and move the ball and I cant wait to go play my first game. I’m going to leave everything up to God. I’m just waiting for my first game and to get my chance.”
The winger scored for Rovers in the 3-0 win against Athlone Town last Saturday, with his long run and 25-yard strike sailing into the top corner delighting the Showgrounds crowd.
“It is the kind of goal I love to score. It was a good goal and I hope I can score some more,” Millien said.
With the club set to appoint a new manager in the coming days after Paul Cook’s departure, the challenge of improving on previous seasons lies ahead for the Rovers players and staff. Millien wants to help repeat the success the club has had.
“Hopefully I can. That kind of stuff, of winning trophies, inspires me. I would love to. I always just to try to keep my own focus and do what I have to do. I always keep my own beliefs and spirit but that stuff inspires me and I would love to bring more of it to Sligo.”
