Football Education in Our Community

Sligo Rovers are producing a football education programme in conjunction with local football clubs that will begin in early May. 

The tremendous work of clubs and coaches in the education and development of young people in football at all levels is massive benefit to the game in our community.  
 
The Bit o’ Red are enthusiastic to increase and share the education of players and coaches in the Sligo/Leitrim Youth Schoolboys and Girls League using the philosophy of the "Sligo Rovers way".
 
Ian Baraclough, Gary Stevens and his backroom staff will provide their knowledge and experience by coaching at clubs throughout the community. The sessions will take place at The Showgrounds.
 
There will be three types of session; defending, midfield and attacking.
 
Each session will be split up into three 20 minute blocks consisting of one hour to include:
 
• Warm-up
 
• Technical
 
• Tactical
 
They will finish with a debrief of the thoughts and theories of the coaches and that will be followed by a Question and Answer session. 
 
Thirty clubs have agreed to take part in this first workshop to take place next month following huge demand in the first of these events.
 
Further invitations on how to take part will be issued ahead of future workshops.
