Recap: Q&A held in the club store

Sligo Rovers manager Ian Baraclough fielded questions from supporters and host Austin O'Callaghan on Tuesday night in the club store in Wine St Car Park.

The Rovers boss revealed his delight at the signings so far for 2014 with 18 players now under contract and admitted he is on the lookout for another addition in the near future.

He also spoke about how pleased he has been to see the Under-19 side develop over the last 12 months and stated his belief that members of the squad have the ability to step up to the senior side one day.

The Rovers boss then discussed new captures for 2014, including re-affirming his opinion that Kalen Spillane has been signed not to provide cover, but to challenge for a starting place as he spoke highly about the defender's capabilities.

Following the one-hour Q&A session, Baraclough spoke to Ocean FM and said: "We probably have more signed that I expected at this stage, comparing it to last year.

"We also sat down and learned from last year what happened. We knew clubs would try to do their stuff early so getting in there first, work like that starts well before the end of the season. You can't go and act on it until the season is finished and with us being a week longer than everybody else by being in the Cup final, you were wondering if people stole a march on you.

"With the Cup victory, it raises the profile of the football club. It allows players to see that you are doing the right things and you are gaining success and we aim to carry on bringing that to the football club.

"To have 18 players signed, by Christmas time, is great, and hopefully there still might be one more before Christmas."
