Rovers draw Molde: Club charter possible for travel

Sligo Rovers will face Norweigan side Molde FK in the second qualifying round of this year's UEFA Champions League.

The Bit o' Red will be at home in the first leg on Wednesday 17 July in The Showgrounds at 6pm.

The away leg is the following week on 23/24 July in Molde with the date yet to be decided by the Norwegian club. The club is investigating the possiblity of a chartered direct flight to Molde. News of this will be made available at 3pm tomorrow. We wish to advise supporters not to make definite travel arrangement prior to news of the potential charter and confirmation of the date for the away leg.

Tickets for the home game will go on sale again on Wednesday in The Showgrounds from 11am to 7pm.

Rovers boss Ian Baraclough said: "It is an exciting draw for everyone. I did my "A" Licence with Ole Gunnar several years ago in Lilleshall in England so it will be good to catch up again and pit our wits against each other. Molde have won their domestic titles twice in succession and like us have been building and building to try to become the top team in their country.

"I will try to get to Molde and take in a game like we did last year against Trnava to get as much information as possible and give ourselves the best chance. I think when you are in the draw and unseeded, you will always face a team that will provide an extremely hard challenge and you have to be at your very best to go through. But this is an exciting draw for everyone. The players will rightly be excited and as I have said on many occasions, this is the stage they want to be at.

"There is no real preference to being home or away first. Obviously we would like to take something to Norway. The first legs are usually cagey affairs but The Showgrounds will be a difficult place for them to come. I watched the draw on UEFA.com and when it started with the Champions League music, it would send a tingle down your spine and you can feel it is a momentum occasion. We can't wait for it to begin."

All tickets purchased online will be shipped by the end of this week.
