Team news for Limerick game
Sligo Rovers face Limerick in the Airtricity Premier Division on Saturday night in The Showgrounds, kick-off 7:45pm.
The Bit o’ Red have a 100% record so far this season with five wins, including three in the league, and lead by four points at the top of the table. The last game between the sides ended 1-1 in Hogan Park in the First Division in 2005.
The last contest in the Showgrounds also ended 1-1 that year.
Rovers will be without injured trio Danny North (knee), Danny Ventre (leg) and Joseph Ndo (hand).
Bit o’ Red boss Ian Baraclough said: “It has been a real solid start. Three goals in Dundalk and a very good performance, coupled with the result against Bray, made it a very good week for us.
"It’s what we’ve wished for in terms of beginning the season. We got an early goal against Dundalk and coped well, making no excuses and going out and getting the points.
"It was a better display compared to the game with Bray and we were strong throughout I felt. I think Dundalk are a different proposition this season and we came away with an excellent win in Oriel Park.
"We carry an expectation with us wherever we go. I’m delighted with how we’ve done so far. Limerick will come down and I expect both teams will try to play football and it will be a good spectacle for the supporters. I was in Thomond Park for their match with Cork and they will come to play their own game.
"It is always important that everyone is patient, from the players to management to supporters.
"We scored a lot of goals but we’ve also had to work very hard for the points on the board so far. If you look at each match, every win has been hard-fought and we’re not going to win every game with big scorelines.
"For me I’m delighted if we win 1-0 with a 96th minute goal as long as it’s a win. Every team in the division has their strengths and Limerick possess many that will become apparent as the season goes on. It‘s going to be a tough game but one that we’ll look forward to."
Kick-off is 7:45pm - a collection for our partner charity MS Therapy will be held prior to the game.
