Duo sign new contracts

Sligo Rovers can confirm Jeff Henderson and Seamus Conneely have signed new contracts with the club.

Henderson has featured 42 times since joining the club in July last year.

The 21-year-old has been an important part of the Rovers squad this season including a memorable display against Shamrock Rovers in the FAI Cup semi-final.

Conneely has made 46 appearances since moving to Rovers from Sheffield United last summer, featuring in defensive and midfield roles for the Bit o’ Red.

The duo commit for the 2014 season.

Seamus Conneely said:

"I'm very happy to have my future secured with Sligo Rovers. I have really enjoyed my time here. I think it is the happiest I've been at a club in my career and my hope now is to be successful with Sligo, try to win my trophies and hopefully it will start this Sunday.

"It's a one-club town. Soccer is the number one sport and everybody rallies around the team. I like the area and many other aspects of the club.

"But my main focus is basically, I want to play. That is my number one concern in football, it's good to know my future is in Sligo next season and trying to challenge on all fronts again next year."

Jeff Henderson said:

"I'm delighted to come to an agreement, I want to thank the club for their part in making in happen. I've settled in really well in the last 18 months. Sligo is not much of a change from where I live at home in England.

“Holding down a regular place in the team is now exactly what I want. It was always going to be the case this season that the three centre-halves would be called upon. But next year, I really want to make one of those places my own. We have to try to win the league again. You want to win everything to be honest. We have already secured some good players with Seamus as well committing. I'm really happy for him as well. “

On the upcoming final, Jeff said: “I can't wait. My family and friends are coming over for the final, it's great to have them all over for the game as I haven't seen them all since the mid-season. The lads that experienced the final in the Aviva Stadium before have said it will be the best day of your career so far. I just can't wait for it to come around now.”
