Donelon and Keating extend deals

Sligo Rovers can confirm that Ruairi Keating and Regan Donelon have signed new contracts, while Ross Gaynor has left the club.

Keating signs an extended deal following a successful loan spell with Finn Harps and then breaking into the Rovers squad where he has featured in league and European matches this month.

Donelon made his first league start last Sunday against Limerick after being part of the Rovers squad for much of the year and signs a professional contract for the first time having also progressed from the Under-19 team.

Keating and Donelon have signed contracts until the end of the 2015 season.

Gaynor joined the Bit o’ Red before the 2012 season and won the league title, an FAI Cup and Setanta Sports Cup in his spell at The Showgrounds.

He featured both in defence and midfield for Rovers over 91 games and also found the net on three occasions as well.

Manager John Coleman said: “Ruairi and Regan are still learning the game but they have come in, got their opportunity and done well.

“I think we have the basis of a good squad here and the young players are important in adding to that.

“I’ve been impressed with the impact they’ve made so far and I think they can go on to become good players for us.

On the departure of Gaynor, Coleman said: “We’ve decided to go down a different route and with a different style of play.

“We thank Ross for his efforts while I’ve been here and in the previous seasons. We go forward and wish him all the best.

The club would also like to thank Ross for his time in The Showgrounds and the role he played with us and wish him success in his future endeavours.
