Team news for EA Sports Cup game

Sligo Rovers take on Derry City in the second round of the EA Sports Cup on Monday, kick-off 5pm in The Showgrounds.

The face the 10-time winners of the competition in a second meeting of the season between the sides.

Derry claimed a 1-0 win in The Brandywell in the SSE Airtricity League earlier in the year.

Manager Ian Baraclough has injury concerns after Saturday’s 2-2 draw with St Patrick’s Athletic in The Showgrounds.

Alan Keane, John Russell and Joseph Ndo are among the players doubtful for the game.

Keane and Russell picked up knocks on Saturday, while Ndo sustained a knee injury in training just prior to the clash with the Saints.

Baraclough said: “It's a chance for those that have been out of the side to get 90 minutes in a competitive game in a Cup that we still want to do well in.

“I'm going to have to make changes. There is no way you can go and put the same team out within 42 hours of just finishing another one.

“There is no time for full recovery for a lot of the players.

“We'll also bring one or two of the younger lads in as well. They will get a chance. One or two bright lads that have had good seasons with the 19s, will come into the squad as well.

“We're going to have to do that because there is one or two knocks, bumps and bruises. But the team that will be selected will have players itching for a chance and I’ll be looking for them to show me why they think they should be in the team.”

Kick-off is 5pm on Monday.
