Four agree terms for 2015

Sligo Rovers are delighted to announce that terms have been agreed for the signing of four new players for the 2015 season.

They are Kevin Devaney, Dinny Corcoran and Steven Beattie who follow new manager Owen Heary from Bohemians and Keith Ward who comes from Dundalk.

Kevin Devaney is a Sligo native who began his career with the club as part of the A team and made his one and only first team appearance in the 2011 season as a late sub against UCD at the Showgrounds.

After leaving the club the winger joined Finn Harps for the second part of 2011 scoring two times in his 10 appearances.

He joined Bohs in August 2012 and made his debut for them in the Showgrounds in a defeat to Rovers. He scored his first goal for the club a month later to win a Dublin Derby against Shamrock Rovers in Tallaght 1-0.

He established himself as a regular in the team over the next two seasons and leaves having played 64 times and scored 6 goals.

Striker Dinny Corcoran from Dublin is the second player to join from Bohemains. The 25 year-old began his career at Sporting Fingal.

He joined Shelbourne in 2010 and scored 11 times in 21 games in the First Division that year.

He then signed for Drogheda United the following year and scored seven goals before moving on to Bohemians for his first stint at Dalymount Park.

After one year there he moved to UCD but was quickly back with the Gypsies joining midway through the 2013 season. He began to establish himself as one of the league’s best strikers under Owen Heary.

Corcoran had a career best year season with Bohs last year scoring 19 goals including two against Sligo Rovers.

Winger Steven Beattie also hails from Dublin and has signed from Bohemains.

He began his career in the underage set up at Shelbourne but left without playing a game after receiving a scholarship to play for Northern Kentucky University in America. After that he had spells with Toronto FC and played in Puerto Rico and with Icelandic club Tindastoll.

He returned to Ireland at the beginning of 2014 to play for Bohs and appeared in 36 games last season and scored three times.

24 year-old midfielder Keith Ward started his career with UCD and was part of their team to win promotion in 2009 in his first season. After one more year at Belfield he was snapped up by Dundalk where he played regularly and scored five times as they reached the final of the Setanta Sports Cup.

He moved to Bohemians for 2012 and played alongside Owen Heary but was signed by Stephen Kenny for Dundalk again in 2013.

After being a key part of the team early in the season an injury in June meant he would play no further part. That knee injury would continue to affect him in 2014 making just one league appearance in Dundalk’s title winning season.

We will have more to come on these new signings.
