Elding is back with Rovers
Anthony Elding has returned to Sligo Rovers and signed a contract until the end of the season.
The striker is well known for his year with the club in 2013 when he scored 19 goals including the winner in that year’s FAI Cup final.
The 33 year-old joined the club in 2013 having played in England for clubs like Leeds United, Crewe Alexandra, Rochdale, Grimsby Town and Preston North End as well as for Ferencvaros in Hungary.
Elding made an immediate impact with the Bit o’Red scoring 10 times in his first nine games and ended the season as leading scorer.
The highlight game in the 2013 FAI Cup final when he scored deep into stoppage time to win the game.
He left the club to sign for Cork City and was most recently with Derry City at the start of this season.
He has been training with the squad recently and Micky Adams decided to add Elding to his squad: “I am delighted to sign Anthony. He’s been in for training with the team. I didn’t know the boy before coming here or about his history at the football club. He’s keen to play a part.”
He will wear the number 99 jersey with the Bit o’Red.
