Under-17 season begins

 

Sligo Rovers under-17s will play their first ever game in the new national league tonight.

Rovers will be away to St. Patrick’s Athletic with the game starting at 7:30pm in Richmond Park.

The Bit o’Red are in section 2 for the inaugural season of the league along with Shamrock Rovers, St. Patrick’s Athletic, Longford Town, Mervue United, Salthill Devon and Athlone Town. The league began on Saturday with Mervue United beating Shamrock Rovers 4-3.

The season will run for 12 games until the end of November before reverting to a summer cycle from the beginning of next year.

The first home game will be this weekend at The Showgrounds at 2pm against Mervue United, the full season's fixture list is here.

The team will be coached by Niall Harrison, Colm Jinks and Danny O’Leary.
