Cretaro: "We have goals everywhere in the team."

Raffaele Cretaro got the opening goal in today’s emphatic 12-1 win over Ballisodare United at Abbey Drive Park.

It made it three wins from three so far in pre-season with the Bit o’Red having also comfortably beaten Shelbounre and Waterford United.

He said that the team’s fitness levels and confidence are building up nicely for the season opener against Cork city on March 7th.

“It was a good showing there today. The main thing to get out of it is the work obviously. The fitness levels need to come up to where we need to be at for the first game of the season against Cork which is in a couple of weeks. So it was a good work out for the lads and some nice goals scored. There is a good bit of confidence running through the team of the minute.”

He was happy to be involved in the occasion to mark Ballisodare United’s 40th anniversary: “I can remember coming here as a young lad playing with Real Tubber. It’s changed a lot since then but it’s fantastic. It’s a credit to everyone here what’s going on with their facilities and I wish them all the best.”

Cretaro is focused on the season starting which he is already looking forward to: “Can’t wait. The sooner the better put it that way but there’s a couple more friendlies coming up so I’m looking forward to them. The main thing is Cork at home so that’s the aim.

“It’s great when you see all the lads chipping in with goals, your wide men, your mid-fielders. Dinny Corcoran only came on for the last 15 minutes got three goals and so did Steven Beattie. So it’s great to have those sort of lads there so that you’re not just depending on one person scoring every week. We have big Morten Nielsen that didn’t play today that can come in and do a job and score goals. I think we have goals everywhere in the team this year.”
