Football returns to the Showgrounds Saturday

 

Football returns to the Showgrounds on Saturday when Rovers host Shelbourne in the first game of pre-season at 6:30pm.

The game will be the first opportunity for Owen Heary to take charge at his new home.

Fans can also come to get a first look at the eight new signings made by Heary for the new season with all players likely to feature. See here for more on how the squad has taken shape.

Owen Heary’s team have been back in training since January 14th with plenty of hard work going on to prepare the team for the season opener against Cork City, also at the Showgrounds, on  March 7th.

It is the first of five friendlies currently arranged with trips to Waterford, Ballisodare and Castlebar to come with one more at the Showgrounds against Athlone Town. Full schedule:

Friday February 13          Waterford United             RSC                        17:30

Sunday February 15        Ballisodare United          Abbey Drive          14:00

Tuesday February 17      Castlebar Celtic             Celtic Park              19:30

Saturday February 28     Athlone Town                   Showgrounds        19:30

 

Tickets for this game will be €10 for adults and €5 for kids.
