Golf Classic Raises €10,000

 

The Sligo Rovers 13th Annual Golf Classic was held at Co. Sligo Golf Club on Friday last with a record number of teams taking part in the event. Beautiful weather helped to attract a total of fifty teams to this magnificent course in a stableford format competition, which proved very popular with golfers, many of whom travelled from all over the country.

The winning team comprised of four local golfers, Aidan Doyle, Padraic McMunn, Tom Horkan and John McHugh. Speaking at the presentation, Mr. Vincent Nally,  organizer of the classic said they were delighted with this the 13th annual classic which raised €10,000 this year and a total of €175,000 over the thirteen classics held.

Mr.Aidan Doyle, captain of Co. Sligo Golf Cub thanked the teams for their co-operation during the course of play which led to the most enjoyable days golf for all the participants. He wished Sligo Rovers every success in the future.

Mr. Robert Fitzpatrick, Vice-Chairman of Sligo Rovers echoed the sentiments of the previous speakers, he thanked the organizers of the classic and expressed his and the committee’s deep appreciation for the money raised which will be a great help to the club.
