Match Report

Late Gaynor equaliser denies Rovers the points

Heary still came away from the game satisfied with how Rovers performed:“At half-time I just told the players to keep doing what they were doing. Maybe we just had to pass the ball a bit quicker and look to get it forward quicker and keep it on the ground. I thought the crowd really got behind us which helped. We moved the ball down the sides of them more and starting getting balls into the box. And the pressure paid off. Cork are a big team and are good at set-pieces but we showed good movement and it was pleasing to score against them from a corner.”

Steven Beattie got a debut goal but said the team were disappointed not to also get the win: “Cork are tipped to be up there or thereabouts to win the league and we showed that we are going to be up there. All the lads are down in there which just shows how far we have come as a team but obviously disappointed not to get the three points.”
