Match Report

Rovers draw with Derry in north west derby

Owen Heary: “They didn’t drop their heads and they came back into the game. I thought defensively we were very good tonight compared to last week. I thought we held a higher line which allowed our mid-fielders to push higher up and create chances from it, Eoin Wearen was able to get up the pitch and make tackles. Overall I was pleased with it but unfortunately we didn’t get the three points. But I have no doubt that if they keep playing the way they are playing we will turn the corner."

Eoin Wearen: "You have to take the positives, I think that other than the goal they scored we defended quite well, we restricted them to long shots. I think at both ends of the pitch we played well, we created chances and we defended well but at this level it’s all about putting the ball into the back of the net.”
