Rovers vs Bohs this Saturday

Sligo Rovers play Bohemians this Saturday night in one of the biggest games The Showgrounds has hosted in a long time.

There is just three games remaining in the 2015 season with Rovers away to St. Pat’s and at home to Limerick after this.

The Bit o’Red currently sit one place above the relegation play-off spot in 10th.

Rovers’ season got off to a difficult start and have been in a battle to stay out of the relegation places all season.

The appointment of Micky Adams on August 4th has seen a turnaround in the team’s fortunes. He immediately led the team to wins over Drogheda United and Derry City and then draws against the top two teams in the country Dundalk and Shamrock Rovers.

That moved Rovers up to 9th but a loss away to Galway seen them move ahead on the table. A brave draw was earned by 10 men of the Bit o’Red last weekend in Longford leaving the battle to stay up extremely tight.

Bohs have surpassed expectations this season to sit in 5th place.

They are currently chasing St. Pat’s for the final European qualification place.

The Gypsies beat Rovers in the last meeting of the teams and took a point when they came to The Showgrounds earlier in the year.

Gavin Peers said about the game: “Everybody is at it. Training has been very good and very intense. We are up for the fight and we won’t back down. Next week is a massive game, they are all massive now. For us we want to win every game.

“I go back to the Shamrock Rovers game when the gaffer and Alan came in. The atmosphere that night was probably the best it’s been all year and probably even the last two years. Everybody got behind us. I think that was down to the likes of Alan and the gaffer cheering the crowd on and tackles going in and it gave us a little push.”

That is what we all want to see at The Showgrounds on Saturday night. The Rally Around Rovers campaign has been a tremendous success now let’s finish the job and make sure Premier Division football stays in Sligo.

Rovers vs Bohs kicks off at 7:45pm this Saturday.

Tickets will be available at the gate.
