Boost to Rally fund arrives with special message

The Sligo Rovers diaspora continues to support the RAR campaign.

A cheque for €1,000 arrived from Florida this week with the message “Keep The Red Flag flying“.  It takes the fund to €67,000 and continues to take new pledges each day.

The sender is Fr Michael Devine, the priest who introduced soccer to Summerhill College in the 1960's.

Now in his 80’s, Fr Devine remains a passionate supporter of the club. We hope to give him a special welcome in The Showgrounds before the end of the season when he returns to Sligo for a Summerhill Reunion function.

Ailbhe Curran, originally from Grattan Street, Sligo is another with special links to the club as her late father, the publican Tommy Curran, was a stalwart member of the management committee.

Ailbhe phoned from Brisbane, Australia to make her payment to the RAR campaign.

Three Sligo brothers, all in different parts of the world, the Gallaghers from Newtownholmes also enlisted.

Vincie is in Perth, Australia, Brendan in based in London and Gene lives at Caltragh near the orginal family home.

Contributions can be made in several ways. All members of the fundraising committee can be contacted via details at the bottom of the page.
