Rovers v Longford: Saturday

 

Following two impressive displays on the road Rovers are back at The Showgrounds this Saturday.

Longford Town make the short trip for game nine of the 2016 SSE Airtricity League season at 7:45pm.

A point was earned away to St. Pat’s a fortnight ago with Gary Boylan’s maiden career goal. Last time in the league The Bit o’Red were unfortunate not to take something from an Oriel Park visit to play Dundalk.

On home turf Rovers have had three successive drawn games.

Dave Robertson’s team was impressive in the last showing to take a scoreless draw against Cork City having finished level with Galway United and Finn Harps prior to that.

The Bit o’Red have an exemplary home record against opponents Longford who have never won a Premier Division match at The Showgrounds in nine attempts. Their only previous win in league football in Sligo was a First Division win in 1989.

Rovers came out on top in a pulsating game last summer 3-2. First half goals David Cawley, Keith Ward and Dinny Corcoran but Town threatened the comeback with two second half goals.
