Keohane "A great fit." - Robertson

Dave Roberston said he is very excited at the signing of Jimmy Keohane.

He feels that the midfielder will add extra quality and goals to his squad.

“Jimmy is a very good player who has played for a few years at a good level in England. He will bring a lot of quality to the squad and he is someone who can provide goals from a midfield positions.

“It is important that we have goals from all parts of the team and not just the strikers. He will definitely improve the squad we have and will help us have the attacking style of play. Jimmy will be a big part of that and will add more goals for us. I think that he can be a fantastic signing.”

After starting out in the SSE Airtricity League Keohane has spent five years playing in England which Roberston says will be very beneficial for him.

“He is 24 which is an excellent age. He has shown great commitment to come and play here and hopefully bring some success back to The Showgrounds. He is a player who is continuously looking to improve. He has the hunger and desire that I am looking for in a player and will be a great fit for us.”

He also spoke of how the two years playing in the league will benefit him: “He will be returning here to where he has played before. It will definitely be good for him having player here in the past. He is also a Republic of Ireland under-19 international and played in European qualifiers with them and scored. That should help him settle in quicker and hit the ground running.”
