U-19 & u-17 season details

The details for the upcoming SSE Airtricity League under-19 and under-17 seasons have been confirmed.

The under-19 campaign will get under way on weekend ending March 13.

A week later will see the start for the under-17s, week ending March 20.

The 20 under-19 clubs have been divided into two 10-team groups with Rovers in the Northern division.

Joining us will be Athlone Town, Bohemians, Derry City, Drogheda United, Dundalk, Finn Harps, Longford Town, St. Patrick’s Athletic and Shelbourne.

The top four teams from both sections will enter the end of season Champions Knockout Phase similar to last season.

There will also be a cup competition which will begin on a regional basis until the quarter-final stage.

Rovers will be looking to build on a super season in 2015 which saw the team top the section to advance to the Champions Knockout Phase where penalties saw the Bit o’Red eliminated by Limerick.

After beginning in August 2015 the under-17 league will have its first full season this year.

Similar to the under-19 league the format sees a north and south split but with extra teams there will be 11 teams in Rovers Northern Section. Monaghan-Cavan will join the other nine clubs listed above.

There will also be two round of fixtures with an eight-team Champions Knockout Phase as well as a cup competition.

Fixtures for both leagues will be announced here in two weeks' time.
