Lowdown

It’s the first Connacht Derby of the season with the visit of Galway United.

Rovers have been narrowly short in the two games so far and will look to kick-start the season with a win.

The Bit o’Red have a good record against the in-form Galway side so a close encounter is in store.

Opposition

Galway United returned to the Premier Division for the 2015 season following a three year absence which seen the club go out of the league, be re-formed as Galway FC before returning to the galway United name.

Tommy Dunne’s team had a solid season though top flight survival was only guaranteed on the final day of the season.

With former Rovers players Kevin Devaney and Ruairi Keating in the squad they have started well with wins against St. Patrick’s Athletic and Bray Wanderers so far.

Last game

Sligo Rovers dropped to tenth position in the table following a 2-1 defeat at Galway United.

Ryan Curran's two opportunistic strikes on 65 and 67 gave the Tribesmen a two goal lead mid-way through the second period. Rovers failed to clear their lines before Curran turned in the game's opener.

Dinny Corcoran halved the deficit six minutes from time. While the Bit O'Red were extremely unlucky not to level the game in the dying moments. Morten Nieslen's thumping effort rifled past Conor Winn only for the Dane to have been adjudged offside.

Rovers: Richard Brush; Alan Keane, Gavin Peers, Tim Clancy (Anthony Elding), Regan Donelon; Jennison Myrie-Williams (Keith Ward), David Cawley, Gary Boylan (Raffaele Cretaro), Sander Puri; Morten Nielsen, Dinny Corcoran.

Team news

Rovers: Two suspensions cause the only absentees for Rovers. Craig Roddan and Kieran Sadlier serve the last of their bans.

Galway United: Armin Aganovic (knee) and Marc Ludden (foot) are Galway United’s only absentees
