Rovers v Bohs: Robbo's View

Dave Robertson was to see a tactically clever performance from his team for the fixture against Bohemians.

Although the result wasn’t what he wanted against Shamrock Rovers he was still pleased with the performance and says confidence remains good.

The early penalty given to Shamrock Rovers on Tuesday he felt had a big bearing on the result:

“I was a little disappointed with the goal we conceded for the penalty against Shamrock Rovers. Personally I thought it was a dubious decision for the penalty. After that it was always going to be hard to chase the game. But I thought that the lads performed well and put a good shift in. In the end it was just not meant to be.

“But now we have a good opportunity to bounce back against Bohemians this Saturday. We are just looking to reset ourselves again and get back to the form we had been showing before the Shamrock Rovers.”

Robertson has been able to name the same team for four games running but has plenty of players on the sidelines desperate for starting places:

“We have good competition at the moment in the squad from the players on the bench. They have all shown a good attitude and application. It gives me a real dilemma for selection going into the game. That is exactly what we want to have here and to have that competition.”

With a narrow loss to Bohs earlier in the season he will look to turn that round and learn some lessons from the previous encounter with The Gypsies:

“We will have to match Bohs work rate but not only that, we will have to be clever in our play. Tactically we will have to get it right and be smart. We know how we want the game to go and if we can dictate things that will give us the best chance. We are still carrying confidence through from the run we have been on lately.”
