Donelon signs new contract


The Bit o’Red are delighted to further add to the future of the squad with the signing of Regan Donelon to a new two-year contract.

The Galwegian left-back will now be at The Showgrounds through to the end of the 2018 season.

Several products of the Rovers youth system have already signed new contracts in recent months including Gary Boylan, Mikey Place and Gary Armstrong.

As well as those Craig Roddan, Micheal Schlingermann, Kieran Sadlier, Daniel Kearns, Raff Cretaro and Tobi Adebayo-Rowling are all under contract with the club for next season and beyond.

Donelon has been a regular at left-back for Rovers for well over a year.

The 20 year-old was a constant in the team all season until an injury sustained in July kept him out of action before a recent return to playing.

Donelon made his debut after progressing through the under-19 team in May 2014 against Bray wanderers. After a loan spell with Finn Harps at the start of the 2015 season he cemented a place in the team on his return that he has retained ever since.

In total Donelon has played 43 times in the Bit o’Red.

He was also recently nominated for Rovers young player of the season for 2016 following an impressive season.
