Kids go free for final games

Kids go free for the final two games of the season at The Showgrounds!

Sligo Rovers are giving free admission to all kids under-12, when accompanied by a paying adult for the rest of the 2016 season.

It will first apply to this Friday’s home game with Longford Town, kick-off 7:45pm.

There will also be free admission for the season finale against Wexford Youths on October 28.

The Bit o’Red last night beat defending league champions and top of the table Dundalk 3-0 at Oriel Park.

Rovers are looking to take momentum from that win into the final three games of the year to finish with as many points as possible and secure the current position of fifth place.

Chairman Martin Heraghty spoke of the importance of taking momentum from 2016’s final games into the off-season to build for next year and the role the Bit o’Red faithful can play in that, he said:

“The team put in a wonderful performance last night to take a well-deserved 3-0 win from the home of the champions Dundalk. There’s still a lot left to play for in the final three games and Dave and the team will be looking to start that with a win against Longford Town on Friday.

“We would like to see a continuation of the tremendous support given by our fans all year long shown right through to the end of the year. 2017 will be an important year for us and we are currently working hard to assemble a squad that we hope can be very competitive. All the support we get through the gate for the final two games will greatly help in adding as much as we can to the squad we already have in place.

“We are delighted to be offering free admission to our youngest supporters and hope to see a big crowd backing the team this weekend against Longford Town and again when we play Wexford Youths.”
