Rovers v Longford: Team News

Sligo Rovers play Longford Town in game 31 of the 2016 SSE Airtricity League season.

This game at The Showgrounds will be Friday night with a 7:45pm kick-off.

It was moved forward 24 hours to accommodate the rearrangement  of Longford’s game with Dundalk which takes place on Monday.

The Bit o’Red come into the game on the back of a highly impressive 3-0 win away at back-to-back league champions Dundalk last Saturday.

First half goals were scored by Achille Campion and Phil Roberts followed by another for Raff Cretaro in the second, that took the leading scorer at The Showgrounds to 10 for the season. All have been in the SSE Airtricity League.

That result kept Rovers fifth with nearest challengers Bohemians two points behind. Longford Town meanwhile are bottom of the league in need of points to try and avoid automatic relegation.

With two games played so far this season between the teams Rovers are yet to have a defeat with a big 3-0 home win in April followed by a high-scoring 2-2 draw at City Calling Stadium afterwards.

Liam Martin received a red card in the Dundalk win last weekend meaning he will be out of this game suspended.

As well as Martin Dave Robertson plans without Micheal Schlingermann who is out with a foot injury.

Rovers will also continue to monitor the fitness of Achille Campion, Gavin Peers and John Russell who are all carrying minor injuries.
